Wellbeing and Genetics

Our main objective is to offer dogs an environment that promotes their well-being and happiness. Furthermore, we are committed to guaranteeing the genetic quality and standard of the São Bernardo breed.

Through specialized care and individualized attention, we seek to create healthy, purebred dogs, maintaining the characteristics that make the breed so special. We believe that providing a suitable environment and dedicated care is essential for the development and longevity of our dogs.

Physical characteristics

It is an animal of imposing size, with a strong and muscular body. The head is also powerful and has an intelligent expression. The snout is substantial and wide, while the eyes are dark, with a friendly appearance. The ears are medium and droopy.

Our four-legged friend can have two coat variations, with long hair and short hair. It is worth mentioning that the Saint Bernard dog is similar in size in both cases, even with the difference in coat.

Temperament

The São Bernardo breed stands out for its calmness and patience, and is often described as kind. However, the need for physical activity and training is crucial to prevent excess energy from manifesting itself in unwanted ways.

The natural instinct to jump to show affection, although charming, can cause accidents. It is essential to educate your puppy from an early age to avoid this behavior. Thanks to its patience, the Saint Bernard adapts well to different situations, living harmoniously with children, the elderly and other animals, as long as it is properly socialized.

Both long- and short-haired dogs require weekly brushing, which helps remove dirt and dead hair loose from the body. Shedding season occurs twice a year. In these cases, the habit of brushing the coat becomes daily.

In addition to all this precaution with brushing its hair, it is important to bathe your dog occasionally. However, it is essential that the owner only uses products specifically indicated for the animal's coat type.

Another very important precaution is to keep your dog's ears clean. It is recommended to check them regularly and clean them according to your veterinarian's instructions.
